The bible tells us God exists and is the creator of everything including humans who he made in his own likeness to enjoy his company. One of the unique gifts that God gave us as people was the ability to make choices including the choice to remain friends with him or to reject him and go our own way. The bible tells us that the very first people on earth rejected God breaking their relationship with him and starting a pattern of behaviour that has since been followed by the entire human race. God could have left us to suffer the consequences of turning away from him but he didn’t! He loved us so much that he became a man in order to draw us back to himself. This man Jesus, lived 2000 years ago and gave up his life when he was nailed to a Roman cross. But the crucifixion wasn’t the end of the story – the bible tells us that 3 days later Jesus was alive again having now conquered death and paid the price for our rebellion. So through Jesus we can know God’s love, peace and presence in our lives both now and for ever if we choose to follow him. This is the good news of the Christian faith.
